The course surveys firearms laws which is not pre-empted by federal law. Major topical coverage includes the Gun Control Act of 1968 and its major enhancements through subsequent lawmaking of Congress, as well as the key SCOTUS cases on the Second Amendment. The course also covers significant firearms laws found throughout the states, from carrying a handgun with a state-issued license to hot-button trends ranging from the Castle Doctrine to state-based pre-emption.
