Attorney Bailey Schiermeyer assists elders, individuals with disabilities, and their families with planning for the legal and financial challenges of aging and long-term care situations. She advises clients about the best strategies for dealing with current crises and planning to avoid crisis situations in the future. As a solution-driven and empathetic person, Bailey is excited by the opportunity to meet clients’ needs and help them reach desired outcomes. Her analytical skills and patience serve her well as she helps clients navigate unique challenges and achieve their goals. In addition to assisting clients with issues of aging and disability, she also handles estate administration or probate cases.
Throughout law school Bailey focused her studies on estate planning, tax law, and elder law. She took advantage of several practical opportunities to apply her legal knowledge and learn more about courts and law. She spent a summer clerking for two judges, which prepared her for working in the court system, and she held several internships involving estate planning, tax planning, personal injury, and bankruptcy. Her mentor encouraged her to pursue opportunities in diverse areas of law so that she could identify her true purpose. While she enjoyed aspects of all her experiences, she was sold on estate planning after her first internship. “I knew in my heart that I was meant to serve elders and their families,” she says. She aims to become a certified elder law attorney.
