Dr. Suzanne Best is a Clinical and Forensic Psychologist licensed in Oregon and Washington with over 25 years’ experience in the research, treatment, and evaluation of trauma exposed individuals. After a decade of directing research studies with combat veterans, first responders, and civilian trauma survivors at the PTSD Research Program of the University of California, San Francisco and San Francisco VA Medical Center, Dr. Best relocated to Portland, Oregon where her focus has remained on PTSD and trauma-related conditions.
Dr. Best has written extensively on the topic of PTSD and is frequently called upon to provide workshops and trainings for a variety of professionals including attorneys, mental health providers, first responders, veterans’ organizations, and community agencies. More recently, Dr. Best authored a chapter on the Impact of Warzone Deployment in Still at War: A Guide for Defenders, Prosecutors and Judges Dealing with the Oregon Veteran Defendant Crisis sponsored by the Oregon Criminal Defense Lawyers Association.
In her forensic practice, Dr. Best specializes in consulting, evaluating, and providing expert witness testimony in civil, criminal, employment, and disability cases involving trauma. In addition, she maintains a clinical practice in which she treats first responders and veterans as well as civilian victims of trauma.
