Course Description
This program offers a comprehensive exploration of the legal principles and procedural safeguards that govern student discipline in U.S. schools. A central focus will be the legal protections afforded to students with disabilities under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
In addition, the session will address the appropriate and effective use of Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), emphasizing both legal obligations and best practices.
