Called “one of the world’s most prominent whistleblower attorneys” by the International Business Times and a “Health Care MVP” by Law 360, he has built a career recovering billions of dollars on behalf of whistleblowers and the federal government.
Guttman’s FCA recoveries rank among the largest in the statute’s history. He represented whistleblowers in Pfizer’s $2.3 billion settlement in 2009, GlaxoSmithKline’s $3 billion settlement in 2012, and Abbott Laboratories’ $1.6 billion Depakote settlement that same year. He also represented Lynn Szymoniak, whose mortgage fraud qui tam case contributed to the government’s landmark $25 billion settlement with major banks, and served as lead counsel in the 2013 Rapamune case resulting in a $491 million Pfizer settlement.
Guttman is also an Adjunct Professorial Instructor at American University, a current faculty member of the National Institute of Trial Advocacy, and a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation. He is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States and multiple federal circuits and district courts.
