Charlie Alovisetti is a partner at Vicente LLP and co-chair of the firm’s Corporate Department. He advises investors, companies, and other law firms on complex corporate transactions across highly regulated consumer industries: cannabis, alcohol, hemp, psychedelics, and other emerging regulated products.
Charlie has managed hundreds of licensed transactions across some of the most active regulated markets in the country, including New York, Colorado, Massachusetts, and Maryland. That cross-jurisdictional experience gives him fluency in the state and local regulatory frameworks that shape stock and asset acquisitions, management and ownership structures, and strategic investment planning in licensed industries. He also counsels emerging growth and portfolio companies on general corporate governance, commercial transactions, and compensation arrangements.
Recognized by Chambers & Partners as a leading attorney in cannabis law, Charlie is the co-author of The Business of Cannabis: Understanding Law, Finance, and Governance in America’s Newest Industry. His decade-plus track record structuring transactions under complex licensing regimes makes him a resource for mainstream companies and investors evaluating opportunities across the full spectrum of regulated consumer products, whether entering the cannabis space, acquiring alcohol and beverage assets, or navigating new markets like kratom, kava, or psychedelics.
Before joining Vicente LLP, Charlie practiced corporate law at Latham & Watkins and Goodwin in New York, representing clients across a range of industries. He holds a Bachelor of Arts, with honors, from McGill University and earned his law degree from Columbia Law School, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and was awarded a Parker School certificate for international and comparative legal studies. Charlie is based in the firm’s Bethesda, Maryland office and is admitted to practice in Colorado, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, Washington, D.C., and Virginia. Charlie’s beverage alcohol work is reinforced by formal wine education; he holds the Level 2 Award in Wines from the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET).
