Course Description
Legal consumers increasingly start their search in AI assistants and AI overviews rather than a traditional list of blue links. That shift changes which firms get named, which pages get cited, and how a potential client arrives at a consultation. This course explains how AI search systems select and cite sources, and what that means for a law firm’s website, content, and intake. Attendees will learn practical steps to make their firm’s content retrievable and citable by AI engines, and how to measure whether it is working. The session closes with the ethics and advertising rules attorneys should keep in view when applying these tactics.
Principles
- Understand How AI Search Changes Legal Visibility
- Understand how AI search systems retrieve, synthesize, and cite information and why visibility in AI-generated answers can differ from traditional search-engine rankings.
- Create Authoritative, Citable Legal Content
- Develop website content that is structured, well-sourced, clearly attributable to qualified attorneys, and designed to be retrievable and cited by AI systems, including practice-area and location-specific pages.
- Build and Measure Law Firm Authority
- Strengthen attorney authorship, firm authority, sourcing, and other signals that support trustworthy AI retrieval, while using prompt testing, citation tracking, and reporting to measure visibility and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Adapt Intake and Client Conversion to AI-Informed Consumers
- Recognize that prospective clients may arrive having already received an AI-generated explanation of their legal issue, and adapt website content, consultation processes, and intake strategies accordingly.
- Implement AI Search Strategies Consistently and Ethically
