California CLE Requirements

Total Credits Required:  25 hours per period


Specialty Credits Required:

At least 4 hours in Ethics

At least 2 hours on Prevention and Detection Competence (1 of Wellness Competence is optional);

At least 2 hours of Elimination of Bias in the Legal Profession  (1 of these must specifically be in Implicit Bias)

At least 1 hour of Technology

At least 1 hour of Civility in the Legal Profession


Reporting Period: 3 years


of Period: Based on Compliance Group


Credit Hour: 60 minutes. Attorney will earn 1 credit for every 60 minutes of instruction.


Attendance Reporting: Attorneys are required to self-report attendance.

On-Demand Programs: On-Demand Courses (Approved for Participatory Credit)

Total Credits Required:  8 hours per period


Specialty Credits Required: 2 hours of ethics per period


Reporting Period: 1 year


End of Period: December 31


Approval: Paralegal CLE approval is received via reciprocity with the NALA or the NFPA.


Attendance Reporting: Paralegals are required to self-report attendance.

Paralegals: Should a paralegal need CLE credit, the paralegal should notify LawPracticeCLE of their paralegal status, so the Accreditation Administration team can seek accreditation with the NALA for approval in their state via reciprocity.
