Joseph M. Herbert is an attorney with Gurley & Associates, P.A., practicing primarily in the areas of business, construction, real estate, and employment law. He handles a wide variety of disputes and negotiations within those areas. Mr. Herbert helps clients in business and partnership formation and disassociation, a wide variety of contract drafting and evaluation, as well as general civil litigation matters. He has a background in business management, which he draws from in order to provide a unique appreciation of the challenges facing his clients. Mr. Herbert earned his B.S. degree from the University of Florida and his J.D. and M.B.A. degrees from Stetson University. He is a member of the Florida Bar Association (labor and employment section, trial lawyers section), the Sarasota County Bar Association (labor and employment section; trial lawyers section; business law section; and real property, trusts, and estates section) and the American Bar Association and is a past chair of the Employment Law Section of the Sarasota County Bar Association, as well as a past co-chair of the Young Lawyers’ Division Diversity Committee Subsection of the Sarasota County Bar Association, has acted on the steering committee for the Business Law and Employment Law Sections of the Sarasota County Bar Association, and has been awarded the President’s Award by the Sarasota County Bar Association.
