Ken Bellmard is a member of Dentons’ Native American Law and Policy practice and Federal Regulatory and Compliance practice. He formerly was the director of government relations of the Kaw Nation and the COO/manager for the Kaw Nation.
Ken has primarily represented Native American tribes and tribal in various matters in tribal and federal courts. Ken negotiated the first three federally approved Class III gaming compacts between Native American tribes and the state of Oklahoma, on behalf of the Tonkawa and Miami tribes and the Miami-Modoc tribal joint venture. He subsequently negotiated a Class III compact for the Otoe-Missouria tribe and was involved in the federal approval of a Class III compact between the Comanche and the state of Oklahoma.
Ken’s practice also involves the development of tribal economic ventures, including renewable energy projects.
