Matt Blumenstein is the Head of Underwriting at Statera Capital. He has broad responsibility across Statera Capital’s business, including leading Statera Capital’s investment underwriting and confirmatory diligence process. He also acts as Statera Capital’s Deputy General Counsel. In 2022, Lawdragon named him one of the Global 100 Leaders in Litigation Finance.
Matt joined Statera from Williams & Connolly LLP, one of the world’s premier litigation law firms, where he practiced general civil litigation for 10 years. He is an accomplished and experienced lawyer who has represented dozens of clients in high-stakes case across the US and internationally. Super Lawyers named him a Rising Star every year from 2014 to 2019. Before joining Williams & Connolly, Matt clerked for Judge Karen LeCraft Henderson on the United States Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit.
Matt graduated with a B.A. from Stanford University and received his J.D. from Vanderbilt Law School. At Vanderbilt, Matt graduated in the Order of the Coif, served on the Law Review, and received several scholastic awards, including the Cecil D. Branstetter Award for extraordinary achievement in the study of litigation and dispute resolution. Matt is now an Adjunct Professor at Vanderbilt Law School, where he teaches a class on commercial litigation finance.
