Course Description
AI will likely impact every type of technology in-house legal departments currently use, from contract management to eDiscovery. At the same time, legal industry leaders are looking at AI as a new contributor to increasing overall lawyer workplace diversity, a 20+-year old effort that has not shown as much progress as expected. However, risks remain in handing off these tasks to AI, such as liability for the use of biased, discriminatory data. AI usage issues are complicated by new professional responsibility requirements, state court rules and state laws that provide guardrails that govern ethical and legal AI use by lawyers.
In our program, we will use DEI as an exemplary for the positives and negatives inherent in AI use as we expand the new frontier of technology while adhering to new standards and requirements for the practice of law.
