Course Description
Private equity continues to expand its presence and influence in healthcare, in particular through the acquisition of medical practices. In this course, we will address major factors and questions that arise for sellers in considering these transactions, how practices can protect themselves, and the major steps and processes in completing a transaction. We will also address recent regulatory challenges and developments where state and federal governments seek to address potential abuses of private equity in healthcare.
Syllabus
- Identify key questions for sellers to ask, including questions for potential buyers and questions for the practice to ask internally
- Identify key steps to help sellers prepare for a transaction
- Discuss common criticisms of private equity investments and the experience of working under PE ownership
- Discuss recent regulatory developments related to private equity ownership
