Stacy Elizabeth Thompson graduated from the University of South Carolina Honors College in 1994 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in International Studies. She received her Juris Doctor degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law and her Master of International Business Studies (Portuguese track) from the Darla Moore School of Business in 2000. She joined Bluestein & Nichols LLC in 2000, and became a partner in 2007. Stacy practices exclusively in the area of Social Security Disability for Bluestein Thompson Sullivan, LLC and handles cases at all levels of appeal (administrative and federal court) statewide.
Stacy is a sustaining member of the National Organization of Social Security Claimant’s Representatives (NOSSCR) and has been a member of the NOSSCR Board representing the Fourth/DC Circuits; she is also a member of the National Association of Disability Advocates. Stacy is a member of the South Carolina Association for Justice (SCAJ), the American Association for Justice, the South Carolina Women Lawyers Association, and the Richland County Bar Association. Stacy volunteers with the South Carolina Pro Bono program and Project HELP, a legal clinic at Transitions shelter. She is a graduate of the SC Bar Leadership Academy (2010 class) and Leadership South Carolina (2013 class) and is chair of the Social Security Disability section of SCAJ. She currently serves on the SC Bar Publications Committee, the Wellness Committee, Elder Law Committee and the Law Related Education Committee. Stacy has been a speaker at numerous seminars regarding social security disability throughout the state and has organized and moderated social security seminars for the SC Bar and SCAJ. Stacy has been a speaker at NOSSCR national conferences on a variety of topics and has been a feature speaker on national webinars in various areas of case development, management and theory.
Stacy has authored one publication, Social Security Disability Cases in South Carolina: Basic Case Evaluation and Management (SC Bar 4th edition 2019). Stacy is a sustaining member of the Junior League of Columbia and serves as President Emeritus on the Board of Able South Carolina, a non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of independent living for individuals with disabilities and has previously served on the board of Special Olympics of South Carolina. Stacy is a member of the USC Association of Letterman (Volleyball), a passionate Gamecock, avid hiker, and proud mom of several rescue pets.
