Gary A. Laurie, Esq. is the founder of a transactional entertainment and intellectual property law firm located in Clifton, New Jersey. For twenty years, he has been protecting and enforcing his clients’ intellectual property rights, as well as negotiating content deals on both the production and talent side of the table. In addition to registering trademarks and copyrights throughout the United States and abroad, Mr. Laurie assists clients in exploiting their intellectual property rights and counsels clients concerning the validity and valuation of intellectual property.
With a focus on entertainment, intellectual property, and corporate matters, Mr. Laurie is in a position to offer a full range of services to artists, businesses, and individuals. His entertainment and intellectual property practice provides a complete range of transactional services for domestic and international companies. These services include licensing, the purchase and sale of businesses, and general business and contract law, primarily in the entertainment industries, including film, music, television, print publishing, websites and mobile apps, visual arts, representation of art galleries, graphic design, restaurants, and other edible entertainment.
He is a past Chair of the Entertainment Arts and Sports Law Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association. Mr. Laurie also teaches courses in contract, business, and entertainment law at Montclair State University, as well as Music Business Law at New Jersey City University.
He is also a frequent lecturer on entertainment and intellectual property topics and provides volunteer services for the Pro Bono Partnership.
Mr. Laurie earned his bachelor’s degree from Montclair State University and his Juris Doctor degree from Seton Hall University.
