Jennifer is a Member at McDonald Hopkins and part of the firm’s national Data Privacy and Cybersecurity team. Her practice spans a wide range of data privacy and cybersecurity matters, including compliance, incident response, and litigation. She is accredited by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) as a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US), the gold standard certification for information privacy professionals. Jennifer draws on her extensive litigation experience to advise clients with a forward-looking approach that minimizes risk and exposure.
Jennifer defends clients in both single-plaintiff and complex class action litigation, with a particular focus on privacy-related disputes. She has represented clients in data breach litigation and cases brought under various state and federal privacy laws. In addition, she has first-chair trial experience in both state and federal courts and has handled alternative dispute resolution matters, including mediation and arbitration.
Jennifer also has significant experience guiding organizations through data security incidents and advising on compliance with state, federal, and international privacy laws. She works closely with law enforcement, forensic investigators, notification vendors, and regulatory agencies to respond effectively to cybersecurity incidents. She regularly counsels clients on evolving privacy laws and assists with drafting and updating policies to maintain compliance.
Outside of her client work, Jennifer is committed to pro bono service. She dedicates her time to matters involving inmate rights, Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) applications, and asylum petitions. Jennifer earned her J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Illinois, where she also received both her M.A. and B.A.
